Medifast Weight Loss- A Minor Setback

Well, in the interest of full disclosure... +3.5 in a week.

Now, I know I didn't eat 10,000 calories than I burned, so a good 1.5 to 2.5 pounds is probably water weight.  At least that makes me feel better.  This week was tough, with a Valentine's dinner and an out of town trip.  But it points out a factor about losing weight with Medifast that I'll have to be aware of-- you can pile it back on as fast as it comes off.

The key to success with this diet in particular is consistency.  The diet is low in calories and safely puts your body in fat burning mode, but if you don't transition off it in rational manner, you can gain it right back.  So the trick is to keep the eye on the prize.  Keep in mind why you are doing this and the weight will come off.

So, back on track.  So far, no cheating today!

Medifast Success: Weight Loss Week One

Well, it's been one week since I decided to get back on track with Medifast and our weight management supplements.  (Drum roll, please?).....

-11.5 in one week!

I'm pretty excited about that.  It's been a really tough week at times.  The most challenging is walking around the kitchen looking at the kids'  food, which is not medifast friendly.  In addition to the snacks, many of the meals are off limits and fruit is a temporary no-no.  I admit that I weigh myself pretty often, so seeing the scale drop during the week was motivation to walk away from the food not on the list.

Some other first week success points:

  1. Knowing that the speed of the medifast plan makes the end already in sight and soon I can enjoy other foods, even though I must change how much and how often.
  2. Biolean helped with the appetite, especially over the first few days.

Well, we move on to week two!  I have my product order now, so I'm well prepared to enter the second lap of the fast track!

Medifast Diet Food on its way...slowly

Well, it's day five of the weight loss fast track and Houston, we have a problem.  The problem is that I must of missed the 2-day shipping option, because my food shipped on Tuesday and isn't due here until Friday.  Now,  you have to understand, that there was a gut decision to jump back into Medifast on Saturday.  Looking a the cupboard, we had a few medifast french vanilla shakes, a whole lot of chocolate pudding, and one precious hot cocca.  Guess how long the cocca lasted here in Wisconsin, were we set out for Church on Sunday with it being a balmy - 13 degF ?

So I order my meals on Sunday, expecting them to ship on Monday and arrive today to help spur on the weight loss journey.  Instead, they shipped Tuesday and will arrive in two more days!  So I'm really, really, familiar with the taste of chocolate pudding...

Overall progress is not bad.  I've lost a lot of water weight, so the scale is reading 8 pounds lost right now, which is great.  Official weigh in day is Saturday, so we'll see where we end up!

Medifast Success- One Day at at Time

I have made it through two days on the Medifast plan, take two.  A major victory was getting through the supermarket just getting the things we planned on getting.  It was about -10 F outside and the idea of some nice, hot food, preferably pizza, while sitting down to watch the Super Bowl was very tempting.  But we were good.  Heck I ended up not even watching the game!

One thing I did accomplish today that was an absolute necessity was buying more supplements.  We had a lot of chocolate pudding and some french vanilla in the house but that was about it.  I can last a few days with that selection, but I'm not going to last much longer that that before I need the Medifast bars!

If you're wondering, my wife and I had our first journey with medifast last year and combined we lost almost 100 pounds.  She lost nearly 60 and I 40.  But the stress of summer travel, birthdays, parties, etc. got the best of us.  This time, we will, we must, do better.  One day at a time.

Winning the Battle, once and for all

On the internet these days, there is nothing more powerful than a personal story.  This is the era of MySpace and YouTube, where we expect to connect to the online universe in a deeper, more sincere way.  And what better way than to share a long and windy, but, God willing, ultimately successful, road of weight loss?  So here I am, to stand with the millions of others on this road, to share the ups and downs, the ins and outs.

You'll see in earlier posts the occasional nod to weight loss, but I was never really serious about it.  However, I do know that people are reading the blog, and many are looking for whether or not Medifast works.  I can tell you by personal experience that it works, but if you are not careful, you will rebound in a depressing way.

Medifast is designed for fast weight loss, but you have to be serious, since just bouncing on and off it is not a good idea.  Your body adjusts to fewer calories and you lose weight (and it's fat because the plan is balanced), but if you don't transition off it well, you can pile with weight back on.

So if you are serious about it, look at the inspirational success stories, read the official blogs, and join us!  The support on the official site is great, and the personal portal to track your journey is priceless.  As for me, I'll continue to post here as the journey, for the last time, progresses towards victory!
