Start...stop...Start...pause...Weight Loss in Spurts

I'm sure this happens to most dieters, but for me it's been a hard road to get back on track with the Medifast diet.  The first challenge is that my DW is no longer on the diet since we're hoping to be blessed with a little one soon and if we're pregnant or just TTC, the diet isn't recommended.  She's taking lots of our Phytovite super-antioxidant, which contains the folic acid she needs, and also our great Omega 3 supplement.

So in general there's more food around the house, but it's not like I'm being force fed fatty meals.  The great thing about Medifast is also it's toughest challenge, the fact that it's simple makes it predictable, and sometimes boring.  When I return from a long day at work, particularly if it was stressful, sometimes I just plain don't want a L&G meal and then another supplement.  There's a need for a lot of willpower from 5pm to bedtime.

So given that, here's what we'll try for the next few days.

  1. BioLean II when I get home from work.  Just take all four tablets with 2 Accelerators and 2 Omega 3 supplements.  The water alone will take the edge off my appetite, and then the appetite suppressant and fat burners will help me get through the afternoon/evening hours, especially if I am busy in the evenings.
  2. I think I'll add one Satiete then too.  It helps with emotional eating, and while it's not like I'm crying and reaching for the Bon-bons, there is a feeling of "After a day like today, there's no way I'm sticking with the diet!"  Satiete will help combat that.
  3. If I happen to have a bigger breakfast, I want to take Lipotrim too.  It will help block the carbs.
  4. Medifast is still the core of the diet, especially for snacks and lunch during the day, but I'll allow myself a heartier dinner and the occasional real breakfast.

We'll see how it goes.  This week I lost about 8 pounds, but a lot of it was water weight.  But with a plan, is a forumula for success.

Day One, Again

One of the frustrating things about maintaining a blog, especially a weight loss blog, is that silence speaks volumes.  Yes, indeed I intended to restart my Medifast journey two weeks ago and lasted about two days.  So why not just give up?  Well, first off, the program works.  I did go from 283.5 to about 250 in two months.  Second, as difficult as it seemed to stay on the diet, going off wasn't the great liberating expereience I thought it would be.  Instead, I gained 18 pounds over the summer months.  So I'm back, with a weight loss goal of 88 pounds and a plan to get there by Christmas.

The two key elements of the plan are the meal supplements and our weight loss pills.  Now, I know the official medifast guidelines don't call for anything outside of their products, but I truly believe that a product like BioLean II has a place in a healthy lifestyle.  I've noticed when I take the products (funny, they don't work unless you eat them!), my energy is up and my appetite is down.  That's a great boost when undertaking a low calorie diet.  I'm all for hedging my bets and if Biolean can stack the deck in my favor, I'm taking it.

In the end, I couldn't offer BioLean on our site, nor could I recommend Medifast, without being consistent and honest about my own results.  This system works, but they work in the real world.  So I'll chart my journey here and hopefully you'll see something that helps you reach your own weight loss goals.
